I'm sorry I just can't help it. I think its because they can do things we can't do - like fly. It may be the fact that they come in so many varieties . You never know when you might see a new one, or catch one in a behavior you haven't seen before. They are a challenge to photograph. They're tiny, they flit around and they never seem to be out in the open or in the right light. Then when you get one posing just right, you have the wrong camera aperture, shutter speed or ISO setting. In short they're frustrating. That's why after hundreds of bird shots I only seem to have a few shots worth sharing. I suppose I could have worse obsessions.
